Vision for Mission
We believe that Christ is the "Hope of the World" and that his kingdom is breaking in upon the earth. We believe that the Church " is of God and will be preserved to the end of time." Our vision for mission is to summon the world to faith and to proclaim the gospel in both word and deed as we seek to make disciples for Jesus Christ.

As members of St. Luke's UMC, we pledge to support its ministries with our prayers, presence, gifts, and service.
The Roots of Saint Luke's
The roots of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Denton go back to at least 1776. The first church building was built in 1816. However, the area was served by itinerants regularly in the interim. Through the years there were numerous mergers and splits locally and nationally 'til the formation of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in 1961.

The new building was dedicated in 1970. Interestingly, the sanctuary and education sections were paid for by campaigns. So literally, the funds were raised by the members' "nickels and dimes". The fellowship hall section was constructed with the funds from the estates of the Johnson and Carter Family. The organ was given and is maintained by a gift of the Dunning family. St. Luke's has been a beacon of light in Denton through the years. Attendance and membership are open to all who profess their faith in Jesus Christ.
