Christian Education

Christian education is a lifelong process of learning the Bible, believing and accepting God's grace, growing in Christian faith and serving God. A big part of Christian education is Sunday School.

Sunday School is a place for people to learn about God and to grow as disciples, to make new friends, to become part of a Christian community and answer God's call to Christian living.

At St. Luke's, we offer Sunday School for all ages, from pre-school through adult, year round.
The regular Sunday School year coincides closely with the local school year calendar, with a Rally Day in late August and classes at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday from September through May. Attendance awards are given for students who miss no more than three Sundays, and they are recognized during a Worship Service and in the church newsletter.

Summer Sunday School runs June through August, also at 9:30 a.m.
The younger classes are combined in the air-conditioned downstairs classrooms during the summer. Junior and senior high and adult classes also have air-conditioned rooms. Summer Sunday School students are recognized during a Worship Service and in the church newsletter.

Confirmation class is offered during the regular Sunday School year
Sixth-graders or for older students who didn't go through confirmation in sixth grade. Special short-term classes are offered several times during the year for adults interested in joining the church.

St. Luke's offers Vacation Bible School for all ages
Pre-school through adult, for one week during the summer, usually in August. VBS is held in the evenings, so working families can attend. A low-cost dinner is offered each evening for those who may not have time to cook before VBS.

Any number of special short-term classes or Bible studies may be held throughout the year.
They may be offered weekday evenings, during the day, or sometime on Sundays. A Discipleship class has been offered Monday nights and Tuesday mornings. A Lenten Bible Study was held during regular Sunday School time. A couple's discussion class was offered Tuesday evenings.

To find out about any upcoming short-term class, contact the church office at 410-479-2171.
